Taco Culture in El Salvador

In El Salvador, Central America, where we are from, there’s a well spread taco culture. If you ever go to El Salvador, it will be easy to find a taquería everywhere; the Mexican food is much closer to the salvadoran gastronomy than you thought due to a historical, cultural, ethnic and social proximity in the region. After the Spaniards came down to the region where El Salvador would be constituted a couple of later centuries, some native people called “allies” from the surrounding areas of current central Mexico accompanied them in the journey and expeditions to Central America, more specific in El Salvador where Spaniards and Tlaxcaltecas (the allies) settled down.

For many decades, the whole region of Central America and Mexico known as New Spain was politically one same entity. After decades, different new countries emerged but the bonds were already made. That’s how former and new Mexicans felt like home in our country and shared with the locals their secret of making a good taco. And nowadays, it’s not weird to meet a Mexican owner running a Pupusería in countries like The United States or such as in our case, including a variety of tacos on the menu. However, it’s not only a tortilla topped with meat, it must be the art made taco which makes the difference at the end of the day.

The best tacos I’ve had anywhere in Brandon. The only thing that isn’t A+ here is that it is hot inside the restaurant in the summer. But everything they serve is absolutely delicious and they have a wide variety of options whether you want authentic tacos or something more Americanized. The staff is always really friendly. If you eat in you get lots of hot sauces to choose from as well. I would recommend this place to anyone it’s so tasty.

I had a great meal. The portions were generous. The tortilla soup was my favourite in Brandon. The service was very warm. I thought the al pastor meat was a bit salty but I didn’t mind too much because the grilled pineapple and salsa verde were so good. I will be back very soon
